USNATA sanctioned Argentine Tango Competitions and events are held according to the rules and policies set by USNATA. As a Professional, Pro-Am or Amateur dancer you can learn more about these events below. 

 

 

Amateurs Category

An Amateur dancer who partners with another Amateur dancer may register in the Amateur category and compete in Single Dances and Championships. Single dances are danced separately while Championships are danced in Tandas. For more rules, click below. 

 

Pro-Am Category

Pro-Am category allows a student to compete with his/her professional dance instructor in Single Dances and Championships. Single dances are danced separately while Championships are danced in Tandas. Certain rules apply. Learn more here. 
 

 

Senior Category

For ages 55+. An Amateur dancer who partners with another Amateur dancer may register in the Amateur category and compete in Single Dances and Championships. Single dances are danced separately while Championships are danced in Tandas. The age is determined by the age of the youngest Amateur dancer in the couple. For more rules, click below. 

Professional Category

A Professional Tango dancer is defined as someone who shows the highest level of dancing and therefore gets compensated for teaching, performing, competing or taxi-dancing. Professional Tango Dancers compete in Championships to obtain titles. To learn more about this category, click below. 

 

Junior Category

A category welcoming the next Tango generation to the floor, our Juniors can perform their own individual piece with either their instructor or another Junior (under the age of 18)!
